Legal Shield is now the new name for Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc.

A while ago, Pre-Paid Legal Services was bought out by a group of investors, including many of the former top management and  an outside investment group.  There is now new management, and some changes are being made effective on January 2, 2014.  However, the basic structure and high quality services remain the same.

The name has been changed to Legal Shield to better match the primary purpose of the company.  The services are in general being expanded to provide better service in several areas.  Among the changes are:
1. Age of dependents covered is increased to age 26, providing that the dependents are never married and living at home--or full time college students.
2.  The Identity Theft Shield now includes coverage for the member, spouse, and up to 8 qualified dependents.
3.  Toll-free phone consultations with your Provider Law Firm for personal legal matters, even regarding pre-existing conditions.
4.  Review of legal contracts and documents now up to 15 pages.
5.  Motor vehicle services 15 days after membership is effective providing that the member has a valid driver's license, and driving a properly licensed personal vehicle. (Note DUI incidents are only covered as a discounted service.)
6.  Residential mortgage document preparation.
7.  One uncontested name change.
8.  Uncontested adoption representation.
9.  Uncontested separation representation.
10.  Uncontested divorce representation.
